Hello everyone this is Amelia Narain. I am a Nurse Practitioner and the owner and founder of In My Garden Health and Lifestyle. Right now I’m about to make a simple healthy green smoothie. I making this smoothie in particular because I know that it is good for pain. I’m having some aches and I wanted to make one of my favorite smoothies.
One of the things about pain is that when a person has pain, part of the reason for it is acidity. When you exercise and your muscles ache, It’s mostly due to your body producing lactic acid. However, when you alkalize your body, you can get rid of that pain. Inflammation can be caused by many things but it is a state of acidity. So whenever you’re thinking about food, you should be thinking about things that can alkalize.
So what’s on my table?
Pineapple: Pineapple is an anti-inflammatory and it has great things in it. One of the characteristics of the pineapple is that it has Bromaline which is an anti-inflammatory agent. This was fresh pineapple that I froze and cut myself.
Lemon: Even though lemon is a citrus fruit and most citrus fruits are acidic, in reality lemons are alkaline. When you take lemon, it can alkalize your body.
Chlorella: Chlorella is a plant from the sea that is loaded with chlorophyll and chlorophyll is like plant blood. It’s like taking a transfusion when you take in liquid form.
Bromelain Powder: Bromelain powder is an extract from pineapple
Tumeric: Tumeric is anti-inflammatory and it has curcumin in it which is one of the main features of turmeric.
Ginger: If you don’t have fresh ginger you can use powdered ginger. Ginger is also an anti-inflammatory it does great things for the stomach and it also has lots of benefits but I’m using it for a pain relieving anti-inflammatory effect.
Spinach: I’m using Spinach because it is green. It has antioxidant properties and it also has zinc in it. And as we talk about Covid, for some of the things that are here are all great things to help you be healthier and your immune system.
Dried Dates: My dates are sweet and soft. You can just pop the seed right out. I’m going to put three just because I want to add a little more sweetness to this since I really don’t like sour.
Almond Milk: You can use whatever milk you want. I’m adding a bit of milk because everything is relatively dry I need something to make it wet and some ice because I have no frozen fruit.

Let’s Blend!
So I’m going to put my milk in and I’m going to put the ice in as well so it won’t get stuck. I will also put my spinach, lot’s of good spinach in there. I normally put about a cup and a half in here, I like it really spinachy. You can put as much spinach as you want.
I’m going to dump my chlorella powder in there, my turmeric and bromelain, my chunk of ginger, my pineapple , and I’m going to squeeze the juice of half a lemon. So I’m going to put it on the base and blend it and I will take a snapshot when it’s done.
After Drinking this smoothie, I normally feel so much better. I know that when I’m in pain more frequently, I need to increase my water intake. Whenever you’re inflamed, another thing that you need to do is make sure you’re drinking enough water. This is a good simple healthy green smoothie and it is anti-inflammatory and great for overall well-being. Whenever you got green you got good stuff.
